Longhua District is located at the geographic center of Shenzhen and the central axis of the city’s urban development. It has Dongguan City and Guangming District to its north, Longgang District to its east, Futian, Luohu and Nanshan districts to its south, and Bao’an District to its west.

Topography

Longhua District consists primarily of hills and terraces. The district is surrounded by mountains and rivers.

Climate

Longhua District is located south of the Tropic of Cancer and has a southern subtropical maritime monsoon climate. Its temperature ranges from 22-35℃ in summer and 10-22℃ in winter, with an annual average temperature of 22℃. The average temperature in January is 14.1℃, and the average temperature in July is 28.2℃. The average annual sunshine is 2,134 hours, and the average rainfall is 1,800 mm.

Transportation

Shenzhen North Railway Station in Longhua District is the largest comprehensive transportation hub with port function in South China, and also an important node of China’s major high-speed railway network. Two high-speed railways, two Metro lines, one tram line and a high-speed expressway network run through the district. Traveling by high-speed railway and subway, it takes only about half an hour to get to Hong Kong and Guangzhou from Longhua, and only four hours to get to Wuhan and Xiamen. In the future, Longhua District will also form a modern urban transportation system consisting of four high-speed railways, 10 Metro lines, the Shenzhen-Huizhou intercity railway, a modern tram line network and a trunk road network.
