About Longhua


      Longhua District is located in the geographic center of Shenzhen Municipality and on the central axis of urban development. Longhua New District was established on December 30th, 2011, and was formally listed as an administrative district on July 1st, 2017. Its jurisdiction covers 175.6 square kilometers. It has six sub-districts (Guanhu, Minzhi, Longhua, Dalang, Fucheng, Guanlan), 50 community workstations and 108 community residents’ committees. At the end of 2017, there were 1.6037 million permanent residents, among which 308,000 residents were registered permanent residents. Longhua District managed 2.855 million people in total.

      Regional Transportation. Longhua District is located in the center of Shenzhen Municipality geographically and on the axis of urban development axis. Longhua District borders Dongguan and Guangming New District to its north, Longlang to its east, Futian, Luohu, and Nanshan to its south, as well as Baoan to its west. Shenzhen North Station is the largest station in the Southern China area. It is a gigantic comprehensive transportation hub with port function, and important interception of the “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal” high speed railway network of the nation. In 2017, the regional GDP reached 213 billion yuan, ranking the sixth in Shenzhen Municipality, with an increase of 8.8%; the added value of above-scale industrial enterprises exceeded 110 billion yuan, with an increase of 10%; the fixed assets investment was 61.8 billion yuan, with an increase of 25%; the total retail sales of consumer goods was 28.78 billion yuan, with an increase of 9.2%; the total import and export volume was 375.6 billion yuan, ranking the third in Shenzhen Municipality; the national and local tax revenue was 38.7 billion yuan, up by 14.8%, a net increase of 5 billion yuan; the general public budget income was 12.1 billion yuan, with an increase of 10.7. %.

      Industrial structure. The proportion of the three industries is 0.01:58:41.99, which has formed a development pattern characterized by industry-led, electronic information industry as the pillar and export-oriented economy. Industry dominates and has a 100 billion manufacturing industry cluster. The proportion of industrial has been contributing for more than 52% of the GDP for a long time. The output value of electronic information industry represented by Foxconn is over 100 billion yuan, which is the largest industry in the region. In 2017, the output value reached 301.131 billion yuan, accounting for 71.6% of the total industrial output value of the region. In 2017, Foxconn's total industrial output value was 239.2 billion yuan, accounting for 56.9% of the total industrial output value of the region. The import and export volume was 268.2 billion yuan, accounting for 71.4% of the total foreign trade volume of Shenzhen Municipality. With a solid industrial base, it has a large number of above-scale industrial enterprises and parks. There are 19,735 manufacturing enterprises, including 978 above-scale industrial enterprises, and 366 enterprises with an output value of over 100 million yuan, including 5-billion-level enterprises and 38 billion-level enterprises. The district has 651 industrial parks with an area of over 26 million square meters. High-tech and emerging industries are accelerating. The number of national high-tech enterprises increased to 1,748 from 139 at the beginning of the district, ranking the third in Shenzhen Municipality; the number of listed companies increased from 7 to 16. In 2017, the added value of emerging industries was 86.3 billion yuan, accounting for 40.5% of GDP.

      Education and health. Longhua District has 70 primary schools and middle schools, with 37 public schools and 33 private schools. Public schools have 67,000 school spots. Private schools have 82,000 school spots. Longhua district has 203 kindergartens with 68,000 school spots. The Longhua branch of Shenzhen Foreign Language School, and Longhua branch of Shenzhen Senior High School and a series of famous schools were put into use. Currently, it has all kinds of 508 medical and health institutions, with four comprehensive public hospitals, three public health institutes, 58 community health centers, and 443 private medical institutes. It has 6829 health staffs, and 3532 sickbeds. The National Health Promotion Area and the National Comprehensive Prevention and Control Demonstration Zone for Chronic Diseases were established.

      Talent introduction. It has 10 academicians, 22 national level “Thousand Talents”, 4 “Pearl River Project” talents in Guangdong Province, 151 Shenzhen Peacock Project Talents, 386 high-level professionals in Shenzhen, and 13 innovation startups. Since 2013, a total of 21,853 sets of affordable housing and talent housing have been built. Within five years, more than 30,000 units will be established and no less than 26,000 units will be supplied.

      Ecology and Humanity. Longhua District is close to mountain and lake, and has a beautiful nature environment. It has a variety of ecological tourism resources, including Mission Hills Leisure Tourism National 5A-level Scenic Area, Shanshuitianyuan Tourism Culture Garden National 4A-level Scenic Area, Guanlan River, Yangtai Mountain Forest Park. The District also has 124 parks, 227 kilometers of green trails. Party city was generally established. People in Longhua are sincere and simple, and they have a rich Hakka traditional culture. The former site of Baishilong Chinese Culture Guru Rescue is in Longhua District. In addition, Longhua District has two demonstration bases for national culture industries, including Guanlan Original Printmaking and Auratic Porcelain. The first profession printmaking museum, China Printmaking Museum is also in Longhua District. Da Chuankeng Kirin Dance and other traditional culture projects are selected to be one of the National Intangible Cultural Heritages. Longhua District is also considered to be the source of migrant literatures.

      Future development:

      We will do our best to improve the strategic position of the core area of Shenzhen Municipality. By focusing on the idea of group agglomeration, functional complementarity and staggered development, we will accelerate the promotion of the North Station Business Center Area, Luhu Science and Technology Area, Jiulong Mountain Production and Research Area, Longhua Modern Business Area, Dalang Fashion Creative Area, Guanlan Ecological Culture Area. The development and construction of the key areas will be a new level of urban axis growth and an image of Longhua. Longhua is striving to achieve an annual output value of more than 320 billion yuan.
