Shenzhen received over 4.16 million tourist visits during the seven-day National Day holiday, or the Golden Week holiday, that ended Friday, data provided by the Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau showed.

Tourism spending from the weeklong holiday reached nearly 3.2 billion yuan (US$450 million), according to the authority.

Major tourist destinations’ revenue exceeded 78 million yuan, and the most popular spots over the holiday included Window of the World, Shenzhen Safari Park, Shenzhen Happy Valley and Shenzhen Waterlands Resort, according to Shenzhen Economic Daily.

In addition, Longhua business circle is among the top five well-liked shopping circles in the country, according to data provided by online food ordering and delivery service provider, Meituan.

Data also suggested that the country’s night consumption scale reached 46.7%, up by 1.7 percentage points. Shenzhen has also become one of the most popular destinations in terms of night tourism searches, along with four other cities namely Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu.

The National Day holiday tourism report released by Chinese online travel agency Ctrip indicated that the holiday tourism featured local and short-distance trips.

Camping was still all the rage across the country during the just-concluded holiday. The number of related orders made on Meituan grew by 410% compared with the May Day holiday.

Per capita tourism spending in cities’ surrounding areas increased by nearly 30% compared with last year’s National Day holiday. Tourists favored surrounding areas in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Nanjing, according to the report.

In another development, Shenzhen’s railway terminals handled a total of 3.35 million passenger trips including 1.89 million arrivals during the National Day holiday travel period.

Among the terminals, Shenzhen North Railway Station had 1.43 million outbound passengers, with 247,000 outbound passengers on National Day. Regular trains at Shenzhen and Shenzhen East railway stations saw 299,600 passenger trips.
