Teachers and students from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) as well as employees including Hong Kong youths and members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) from Mission Hills Group’s Shenzhen office watched the opening session of the 20th National Congress of the CPC yesterday.

After watching the opening session of the 20th CPC National Congress, Xu Yangsheng, president of CUHK-Shenzhen, said they will strive to comprehensively and deeply understand the spirit of Xi Jinping’s report. “The university will also fully implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in aspects including teaching and scientific research, industrial transformation and social services,” Xu said.

Ge Lisha, a teacher from CUHK-Shenzhen, said: “CUHK-Shenzhen is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The opening of the 20th CPC National Congress is a milestone for the school’s development. As a young teacher, I feel honored and more responsible. We will strive to cultivate batches of youths who have ideals, dare to take more responsibility, can endure hardships and are willing to work hard for the country’s development.”

Liang Zhanfei, a CUHK-Shenzhen student, said he is extremely honored to witness this historic moment as a CPC member.

“Through gaokao (the National College Entrance Examination), I came to Shenzhen, a pioneer in China’s reform and opening up, and had the chance to study at CUHK-Shenzhen, which is at the forefront of the country’s education reform,” Liang said. “I have learnt about the close connection between China and the development of the world, the importance of the reform and opening-up policy to both the Chinese and people of the world, and the idea of building a human community with a shared future.”

Dr. Ken Chu, chairman and CEO of Mission Hills Group, watched the opening session with CPC members and dozens of Hong Kong youths at MH Maker in Longhua District yesterday. Mission Hills Group is a Hong Kong enterprise that has invested on the mainland for over 20 years.

Chu said he felt very inspired by Xi’s report. “The report delivered by Xi embodies the wisdom of the whole Party,” Chu said. “I will continue to follow Xi’s expectations for Hong Kong and Macao compatriots, and combine the advantages of Hong Kong and the needs of the country to contribute more to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the Hainan Free Trade Port.”
