A 7-year-old Shenzhen girl’s painting has drawn wide attention recently, the local government’s WeChat account reported yesterday.

The painting, showing a bus, pedestrians and thunderstorms, tells a heartwarming story of a bus driver helping people in need during a thunderstorm.

At about 4 p.m. July 29, there was a sudden heavy downpour with gale-force winds in Shenzhen, when He Tinghui, a driver of a Route M573 bus, was driving the bus through a bus stop. He saw a woman with a toddler in hand and another child standing by her side, all soaked in the heavy rain. The driver quickly opened the door and asked them to get on the bus.

After the bus arrived at Zhongkegu terminal station, the driver took the three to the lounge. His colleagues brought towels and hot water to keep them warm and dry.

The woman said she was sending her 7-year-old granddaughter to a dance class. She didn’t expect to encounter such heavy rain on the way. After the rain stopped, one of He’s colleagues sent the three home in his private car.

On Aug. 2, the woman’s family came to Shenzhen Eastern Bus Group to show their gratitude for the help.

The granddaughter then painted a picture of the scene and gave it to the driver as a thank-you gift.

The heartwarming story moved many netizens, who also shared similar stories.

On July 31, a woman fainted on Shenzhen Bus Group’s B878 when driver Ma Nanlong was driving the bus from Mission Hills terminal in Longhua District to Renwu Village in Pinghu, Longgang District. Ma immediately turned on his emergency blinkers, stopped the vehicle and checked the situation. He quickly carried out first aid he learned during a training session after he found the woman unconscious.

After nearly one minute of intensive first aid, the passenger’s physical condition gradually improved.

With years of working experience, Ma judged that the passenger might have fainted due to hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar, and went to a nearby store to buy sweets for her, who gradually regained consciousness.
