A taxi driver and three deliverymen who received a city honor for their dedication to the society, shared their stories with Shenzhen Evening News recently.

Li Guowen, a driver for online moving company platform Huolala, believed what he did for others are negligible. He always offers suggestions based on personal experience when communicating with colleagues regarding difficulties in life and work.

“Helping others is a very simple thing that some people have forgotten. I hoped my little ‘action’ can remind people of helping others,” Li said.

Chen Wei, a deliveryman for online food delivery platform Meituan, joined a volunteer team in Longhua District in May 2021. He said he was affected by the city’s volunteer culture.  

“Whenever I see uneven road surfaces, I would take a photo and report it to the community or subdistrict. I think this is not a big deal but can make our society a better place. I am so happy to see that more and more deliverymen have joined us,” Chen said.

Huang Guowen became a deliveryman for SF Express four years ago. “Shenzhen is a city of civility. I am proud to be a citizen here,” Huang said.

No matter how urgent the time is, he never runs a red light. Huang believed that when more and more people live politely or with proper manners, life will become better.

Zuo Dihua, head of Meituan’s Mingzhi station, manages over 70 deliverymen. He realized the importance of letting each deliveryman know they are a strong team, and they should help and supervise each other.

Zuo encouraged excellent deliverymen to keep doing and sluggish deliverymen to be positive for work. He also cares about them, wining each deliveryman’s trust at the station.

“Each of us came to Shenzhen to contribute to the city’s development. We are all amazing. This is my responsibility to take good care of my brothers (deliverymen),” Zuo said.
