Longhua promotes digital economy to foreign investors

In May, representatives from foreign commercial liaisons offices in Guangdong, including Germany, Australia, South Korea and The Kingdom of Bahrain, gathered at the big data operation center of Meituan to embark on a digital economy promotion tour across Longhua District.


The tour kicked off this year’s Digital Longhua investment promotion events. Through the events, the district is aiming to promote its business environment and policies to investors at home and abroad and attract more enterprises to start their businesses in Longhua.


At a conference held in the operation center ahead of the tour, a staffer with the Longhua District Investment Promotion and Enterprise Service Center elaborated on the district’s key industrial spaces which includes a digital economy circle near the Shenzhen North Railway Station, a central vitality zone covering North Railway Station New Town, Longhua Business Center and Meilin Checkpoint area, and three urban corridors including Meiguan Innovation Corridor, Guanlan River Ecological Corridor and Longlan Smart Manufacturing Corridor. The center will continue collaborating with investors at home and abroad to introduce more enterprises to invest in Longhua while helping local enterprises to go global.

The representatives also visited the digital exhibition halls and experienced smart products utilizing Artificial Intelligence, 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies at the center.


After that, they visited Dalang Fashion Town and checked out the fashion town’s public service center, professional showrooms and runways and the headquarters building of Marisfrolg Fashion Group designed by New Zealand architect Fred Van Brandenburg.


“The Kingdom of Bahrain has already cooperated with Shenzhen to develop its digital economy,” said Li Miaomiao, head of the South China region of the EDB Bahrain Southern China Office (Shenzhen), “Bahrain is the first country in North Africa to promote the application of cloud computing technology and has introduced a number of enterprises such as Tencent, HUAWEI and Amazon to open their cloud computing centers. The country is now seeking for win-win cooperation with Longhua District in terms of technology exchange, investment promotion and more.”


Liang Jie, director of NRW. (Nordrhein-Westfalen) Global Business China Guangzhou, said that the German province takes great interest in joining hands with Longhua District to promote the development of digital economy. “We had organized some startups from Nordrhein-Westfalen to visit Longhua District and exchange ideas with tech enterprises in the district in 2017. Now, we are looking forward to seeking further cooperation in digital economy with Longhua District,” said Liang.


The event was guided by Shenzhen Municipal Commerce Bureau, hosted by Longhua District People’s Government and co-organized by the Longhua District Industry and Information Technology Bureau and the Longhua District Investment Promotion and Enterprise Service Center.
