Longhua releases nation’s first report on digital economy development

Longhua District recently released a research report on the development of its digital economy. The district is the first county-level prefecture in China that has released a report on digital economy.


The reported was jointly released by Longhua District Government and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) to systematically analyze the status quo of the district’s digital economy, to help the society better understand the developing trend of the district’s economy and to give suggestions and reference for future economic development.


According to the report, Longhua District offers great structural support to its digitaleconomy by issuing collections of preferential policies to promote the development of newly-emerged industries including IoT (Internet of Things) and digital currency, and by continuously updating the policies to better serve its economic and social development.


The district is planning to roll out several IoT demonstration projects basing on its smart government service and information platform. The projects will be applied in finance, urban administration, civil affairs, water management, public health,the judiciary, education, culture and tourism, and other scenarios. A total of 10 projects has been so far approved by the district authority and is now calling for bids.


Longhua is also promoting the construction of future city pilot zones and the smart transformation ofthe social governance mode. It has established eight scenarios for the application of future city and a smart service platform featuring grid management, information support and open source access.


The report also pointed out that Longhua District will build a total 10 industrial clusterswith focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), industrial internet, consumer internet, smart equipment manufacturing, life and health, Internet of Things, new display, integrated circuit, digital culture, and fashion creative industries to boost the development of the digital economy. The total output of the 10 clusters is proposed to exceed 300 billion yuan by 2023.


In a guideline on the implementation of “Digital Longhua” development strategy and the construction of “One Circle, One Zone, Three Corridors” layout issued last November, Longhua District emphasized that the district would strive to build itself into a pilot demonstration area of digital economy in Shenzhen. As of the first half of 2020, the digital economy and industries has become a major driving force of the district’s economic development with a total output of over 185 billion yuan and a 45 percent year-on-year growth rate.


The district authority on Aug. 26 also issued a three-year work plan and a package of preferential rules to better support the development ofthe digital economy.
