The construction of Longhua District Elderly Care Center, located in the Dashuikeng Community, Fucheng Subdistrict, is in full swing, as noted by the Longhua District Public Works Bureau.

The project leverages cutting-edge building materials to align with low-carbon goals while creating a safe, efficient and sustainable living environment for senior citizens.

Spanning 15 floors above ground and one basement level, the center comprises two towers with a total height of 53.67 meters. Upon completion, it will offer 655 senior care beds and 172 talent apartments. Engineers highlighted the innovative use of precast concrete (PC) components and autoclaved lightweight concrete (ALC) panels to enhance construction efficiency and quality.

PC components, prefabricated in factories through standardized processes, ensure high precision with dimensional errors controlled within 2 millimeters. These components, used for beams, floors, walls, staircases and balconies of the facility, demonstrate better strength and durability compared to traditional cast-in-place concrete.

The ALC panels, made from silica sand, cement and lime via high-pressure steam curing, weigh only one-eighth to one-tenth of conventional concrete. Their lightweight nature reduces building load while offering sound insulation, thermal efficiency, fire resistance, and environmental benefits.

The Elderly Care Center stands as a model for future projects, blending green practices with elder-centric design to meet the demands of an aging society.
