The Lifemotion ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) system and supporting solutions—independently developed by Longhua-based Chinabridge (Shenzhen) Medical Technology Co., Ltd.—were showcased at the 13th EuroELSO Congress, held in Milan, Italy, from April 23 to 26.

EuroELSO (European Extracorporeal Life Support Organization) is an international non-profit consortium dedicated to the development, evaluation, and advancement of ECMO and other innovative life support therapies. This year’s congress brought together 1,500 participants from over 70 countries, serving as a platform for global clinicians, researchers, perfusionists, and industry partners to exchange knowledge and highlight the latest advancements in ECMO technologies.

Chinabridge attracted considerable attention with its Lifemotion ECMO system, which combines high performance with a compact design. The company also introduced an ECMO training simulator developed in collaboration with Califia®, a leading name in extracorporeal circulation simulation. Leveraging VR and AR technologies, the multilingual simulator reproduces the full ECMO deployment process—from pre-charging consumables to clinical operation—including both VV (veno-venous) and VA (veno-arterial) ECMO modalities, as well as key procedures such as visualized intubation and patient transport management.

During the congress, Chinabridge hosted a plenary session where ECMO professionals and clinicians discussed the market potential of the Lifemotion ECMO system in Europe, the critical role of clinical training, and the importance of eCPR (extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation) practices. Several attendees expressed strong interest in collaborating with Chinabridge to establish academic medical-engineering translational platforms aimed at improving ECMO treatment safety and outcomes.

Notably, the Lifemotion ECMO system received EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR) certification in January 2025, becoming the first China-developed ECMO system to gain approval across four registration modules. This marks a major breakthrough—not only overcoming Europe’s stringent regulatory barriers but also affirming the international competitiveness of China’s high-end medical technology.

Already in clinical use in three countries, the system is poised for broader global adoption. Backed by dual certifications from both the NMPA and CE, Chinabridge is accelerating its global footprint, aiming to provide high-quality extracorporeal life support to over 4 billion people across more than 100 countries and regions.
