A community in Longhua District has introduced a new foreign-language volunteer team, bringing together local residents and international participants to support cross-cultural communication and community services.
The team was unveiled at an annual volunteer recognition event held at the Longtang Community Party and Public Service Center in Minzhi Subdistrict, where 61 volunteers were honored for their contributions over the past year.

Celebrating community spirit
The event opened with a video showcasing volunteers’ everyday efforts, from helping neighbors to improving the local environment, highlighting the strong sense of community among residents.
Awards were presented in several categories, including 36 “Outstanding Volunteers,” six veteran volunteers recognized as “Red Star Volunteers,” 12 “Outstanding Party Member Volunteers,” and seven recipients of the “1,000-Hour Service Award” for long-term dedication.
Volunteer representatives also shared their experiences, expressing their commitment to continue serving the community and encouraging more residents to get involved.
A bridge for cultural exchange
A highlight of the event was the debut of the foreign-language volunteer team. The group includes residents with foreign-language skills as well as international participants, reflecting the area’s growing diversity.
Team members performed an English recital titled “Glimmers of Light, A Symphony of Destiny,” demonstrating both their language abilities and enthusiasm for community service.
The team will provide language support for community activities and receive training in international etiquette, helping facilitate communication and cultural exchange.
Encouraging broader participation
Organizers said the initiative aims to create more inclusive and accessible community services while encouraging wider participation from residents of different backgrounds.
Local businesses also joined the effort by offering benefits to volunteers, recognizing their contributions and supporting continued engagement.
