Shenzhen Art Museum (New Venue)
As the first project to be completed in accordance to the city’s plan to build a new batch of major cultural facilities, the new venue of the Shenzhen Art Museum is designed as an international art palace that integrates art exhibitions, art collection, cultural exchange, talent training and public services under one roof.
An architecture masterpiece of German studio KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, the Shenzhen Art Museum, it is Located on the city’s central axis and in Longhua District’s Shenzhen North Railway Station central business district, the new art museum faces the Shenzhen Library’s north division, a work by the same designing firm.
The new art museum, with a total construction area of 66,000 square meters, houses an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, with an artwork storage room of nearly 6,200 square meters. It has 18 exhibition halls, a 3,900-square-meter semi-outdoor area for sculpture exhibitions, several lecture halls, an art book reading room, an art-themed restaurant, and other multi-functional areas.
Compared with older galleries in the city, the new art museum boasts more sophisticated design and equipment which allows it to accommodate different types and scales of exhibitions to effectively meet the artistic needs of different audiences. Each of its 18 exhibition halls has their own characteristics, with those on the first floor, 13.9 meters high and equipped with movable hydraulic display walls, suitable for both large-scale exhibitions and smaller ones with flexible spaces.
The second floor highlights a 3,900-square-meter semi-outdoor sculpture exhibition hall, an ideal venue for large-scale sculpture and installation exhibitions. The professional light film used on the third floor creates a natural lighting environment for the best experience of appreciating artworks. The fourth floor, with constant temperature and humidity display cases, meets the requirements for displaying precious collections. In addition, the museum is also equipped with elevators with a load-bearing capacity of 12 tons and other professional equipment to meet the needs of different types of exhibitions.
The museum’s storage room, composed of eight sections, is also set with an electric intelligent management system, and a tailor-made environment monitoring system, which allows real-time monitoring of temperature, humidity, light, ultraviolet ray, CO2, formaldehyde and other environmental indicators. In case of an abnormality, an early warning can be sent through multiple ways including WeChat, text message, telephone, and alarms.
Reservations are needed for admission and potential visitors can make an appointment on the official WeChat account of the museum. It is open for 6,000 visitors on a daily basis.

Shenzhen Library North Division
Located on the city's central axis and in the Shenzhen North Railway Station central business district, Shenzhen Library's north division stands across the Shenzhen Art Museum (new venue).
The library, with a total construction area of 72,000 square meters, is designed as a comprehensive and smart public library that can also function as the city's literature archive, as well as the document collection and editing center, network data center, and the literature dispatching center of Shenzhen as a "City of Libraries."
The new library, with tech features in almost all its dimensions, can complement the functions of the main Shenzhen Library site in Futian District. It provides a total of 2,500 reading seats and houses an extensive collection of 8 million books.
In addition to six floors above ground, the library also features a three-floor-deep underground storage area with an automatic and intelligent book sorting system. The underground section, 21.55 meters deep and covering an area of 2,862 square meters, is roughly the size of seven basketball courts. It is the largest and first ultra-deep three-dimensional library in China.

Through the automatic sorting and positioning system, readers can complete rapid borrowing in as short as 8 minutes. Once a reader submits a book request, the books will be retrieved by an automated carriage, which can travel from the underground floors to the top floors for readers to immediately pickup.
Both the library and the new art museum are designed by German studio KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten.
Aiming to integrate literature collection, reading space, social education, idea exchange, cultural inheritance, and creative activities under one roof, the library boasts various themed reading areas, exhibition halls, lecture halls, and functional areas.
Reservations are needed for admission and the library is open to a total of 8,000 readers per day, including 2,000 for the children's area daily. Readers who plan to drive there can submit their parking reservations one day in advance via the Shenzhen Library WeChat public account.

Guanhu Art Gallery 观湖美术馆
Guanhu Art Gallery (formerly known as Guanlan Art Museum) is now affiliated to Guanhu Subdistrict Office, Longhua District. Currently, the exhibition hall covers an area of over 3,000 m2, and the length of the exhibition line is approximately 800 meters. The gallery has set divisions such as Exhibition Division, Research & Collection Division, and Public Relations Division, which is the only subdistrict-level art gallery in Shenzhen. Since it came into service in 2005, it has undertaken more than 400 art exhibitions of all kinds, including the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Guanlan International Print Biennial, Inherit the Essence of the Past and Enlighten the Future – Invitational Exhibition of Masterpieces of Chinese Contemporary Print, the 4th Print Exhibition of Guangdong Province, the series activities of classic prints into Guanlan, "Occurrence – Discovery" Invitation Exhibition of Chinese Contemporary Oil Paintings, "Find One's True Self" Invitational Exhibition of Works by Famous Chinese Painting Artists, and other national, provincial and municipal large-scale exhibitions. It has also undertaken Shenzhen Municipal important exhibitions such as Shenzhen Oil Painting Annual Exhibition, "Autumn in Shenzhen" Citizens Culture Festival – Exhibition of Award-Winning Works of Art and Calligraphy, Cultural & Sports Festival for Migrant Young Workers – Photography Exhibition Of Fine Arts And Calligraphy. Through the holding of various exhibition activities, the cultural influence of Guanhu has been greatly enhanced, and a group of outstanding professional teams have been gathered. The art gallery also specially hires ten respected artists including Li Baolin, Dong Xiaoming, Liang Yu, and Chen Xiangbo, as art consultants. Through 15 years of development, the collection of art works has also been greatly enriched. There are nearly 2,000 collection works such as traditional Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, watercolor painting and calligraphy.

Memorial Hall of Chinese Cultural Celebrity Rescue
Built on September 3, 2005, the Memorial Hall of Chinese Cultural Celebrity Rescue opened to the public for free. The name plate of the hall was inscribed by Zou Jiahua, former member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee, former Vice Premier of the State Council, and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress.

With a land area of 2,860 square meters and a floor area of 900 square meters, the memorial hall consists of a Catholic church, which served as a former stopover for the celebrities during the rescue, a sculpture depicting the scene during the great rescue, an exhibition hall, a large relief wall, and some reception and office spaces.
The memorialhall tells the story a rescue campaign taking place in early 1942, which lasted for 200 days and has rescued more than 800 mainlanders including patriotic democrats and intellectual, as well as over 100 international friends from the U.K., the U.S. and India from Hong Kong occupied by Japanese invaders. It has the largest collection of historical materials and cultural relics of the great rescue in the Lingnan region and memorial hall under the theme of the rescue in Shenzhen. It was enlisted as the third batch of the “National Anti-Japanese War Memorial Facilities and Sites in China” by the State Council in last September, and is also a historic education bases in Guangdong Province and a revolutionary tourist attraction at municipal and provincial level.

Mei Luen Rosewood Art Museum
Established by Mei Luen Group in Guanlan, Longhua District, the Mei Luen Rosewood Art Museum opened for a trial run in May, 2013 and officially opened on March 22, 2014. Located at 348 Golf Avenue in Guanlan Subdistrict, the museum is the first rosewood art museum in Shenzhen and a base for the exchanges and creation of Chinese calligraphy accredited by the China Artist Association. It is also a Sino-Italian culture exchange center of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou and the Italian Trade Agency.

At present, the museum is actively absorbing more cultural elements from home and abroad to make it an international platform for international culture exchanges.
Eachway Art and Fashion Museum
Located in the Eachway Creative Industrial Park in Longhua District, the Eachway Art and Fashion Museum is the first fashion museum in China and the first large-scale museum in Shenzhen founded by a private enterprise and themed on clothing and textiles, showcasing the evolution of clothing culture and lifestyle in China and the world over the past century.
