Luohu Checkpoint 


Located in Louhu District, Luohu Checkpoint is one of the busiest land border-crossings between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and one of the most convenient with seamless connection between Shenzhen Metro Line 1 and Hong Kong MTR's East Rail Line. Official figures show that about an average of 100 million people cross the border through Luohu Checkpoint annually.

Opening hours: 6:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. every day

Futian Checkpoint 


Not far away from Huanggang Checkpoint, Futian Checkpoint is another popular border crossing among travelers for its convenient direct link of Shenzhen's Metro with Hong Kong MTR's East Rail Line.

Opening hours: 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Huanggang Checkpoint 


Located in Futian District, Huanggang Checkpoint is currently the only checkpoint in the city that is open around the clock. It has the largest comprehensive road crossings both for individual travelers and cargo in China and is one of the largest land crossings. There have been a lot of cross-border buses commuting between Shenzhen and various destinations in Hong Kong at this checkpoint. Having been in service for a long time and seeing especially relatively fewer people at midnight, Huanggang Checkpoint had been a very good option for late-night border-crossing travelers. Currently under renovation, the checkpoint is open only for cargo inspection. After renovation which is scheduled to be completed later this year, the checkpoint will become a passenger-only border crossing with a designed capacity of handling up to 300,000 people daily.

Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint 


Located in Shekou, Nanshan District, Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint is a popular land border crossing for people living in western Shenzhen. It is the first border control point in the country with the immigration facilities of the Hong Kong side co-located in the same checkpoint building with the mainland side, which enables both individual travelers and vehicles to complete customs clearance of both the mainland and Hong Kong within a short distance. Although currently there is no Metro station available on either the Shenzhen or Hong Kong side, cross-border buses are available from Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint to various destinations in Hong Kong such as Jordon, Tsim Sha Tsui, Victoria Harbor and Disneyland. Shenzhen Metro Line 13 that starts at Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint is under construction and is slated to start service in 2025.

Opening hours: 6:30 a.m. to 12 a.m. every day for individual travelers, 24 hours daily for cargo customs clearance

Wenjindu Checkpoint 


Located in Luohu District, Wenjindu Checkpoint is one of the first batch of land border crossings that were put into operation in China. Dubbed Hong Kong's "green lifeline," the checkpoint has served as a major gateway for the supply of produce from the Chinese mainland to the special administrative region. Fresh vegetables, fruits, frozen meats and livestock passing through this checkpoint account for 80% of the daily supply of such consumer goods to Hong Kong. Wenjindu is reopened to individual travelers as of Jan. 8, this year after a major facelift.

Liantang Checkpoint 


Located in Luohu District, Liantang Checkpoint is the seventh land border-crossing between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, serving both passengers and cargo. The main building of Liantang Checkpoint adopts an elevated design: the first floor is for cargo inspection and the second floor is for individual traveler inspection. The designed capacity is 30,000 individuals/day and 17,850 vehicles/day, including 15,000 trucks, 2,000 minibuses and 850 buses.

Shatoujiao Checkpoint 


Located in Yantian District, Shatoujiao Checkpoint was first put into use in March 1985, and mainly serves eastern Shenzhen. However, a special pass is required to enter Hong Kong's Sha Tau Kok area.

Opening hours: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Shekou Checkpoint 


Located in Shekou, Nanshan District, Shekou Port consists of two parts: the cargo-only container terminal and the Shekou Ferry Terminal, which is open to border-crossing individual travelers. Shekou Port was China’s first checkpoint that was funded, managed and operated by an enterprise after the country’s reform and opening up. Currently, Shekou Port has a total of 31 berths, 10 of which are for container vessels and eight for passenger ships. The container terminal has a designed capacity of handling 1 million TEUs (twenty-feet equivalent units) annually.

The passenger-only Shekou Ferry Terminal, also known as Shenzhen Prince Bay Cruise Homeport, operates direct ferry connections to the Hong Kong airport, and a number of other destinations in Hong Kong and Macao. Free shuttle bus services are available at the former Shekou Ferry Terminal, near Exit C of the Shekou Port Station of Metro Line 2, to go to the homeport. A bus terminus near the Metro station offer bus services to locations throughout Shenzhen.

Shenzhen Airport Checkpoint 

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport was China's first airport invested in by the local government. It was open for domestic air routes in October 1991 and was approved to launch international air routes by the Central authority in February 1992. Covering an area of 450,000 square meters in Bao'an District, the new Terminal 3 of the Shenzhen airport was put into use Nov. 28, 2013, and has a designed capacity of handling 45 million travelers (36 million domestic travelers and 9 million international travelers). The airport has been in operation around the clock since Nov. 12, 2015. The Fuyong ferry terminal, affiliated with the Shenzhen airport, offers ferry service between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macao, as well as Shenzhen and Zhongshan. The Fuyong ferry terminal operates from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

XRL West Kowloon Station Checkpoint 

Located in Hong Kong, the XRL West Kowloon Station Checkpoint is an international railway passenger checkpoint open all year round. Following the "Two Inspections at One Place" mode, the checkpoint houses both the Hong Kong side and the mainland side, with each side conducting separate Exit and Entry Inspections according to respective laws. The West Kowloon Station covers a floor area of 380,000 square meters and has been designed to receive 200,000 travelers every day.

Opening hours: 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
