Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Mission Hills Golf Club in the Longhua District is the only 72-hole golf course in the country and the largest of its kind in Asia. It has been recognized by the Professional Golfers' Association of America (PGA) and its Tournament Players Club (TPC) as a pivotal course for major international golf competitions. The club is also a member of the World Golf Club.

Mission Hills Golf Club has hosted numerous international tournaments. It started gaining a reputation both at home and abroad in 1995 by successfully hosting the finals of the 41st Golf World Cup. The seventh hole on the World Cup Course was heralded by international golf publications as one of the best 500 golf holes in the world and one of the best 24 golf holes in Asia. The club has also been named one of the top 10 scenic spots in Shenzhen.
