  Longhua District sits at the geographical heart of Shenzhen, aligned with the city’s main development corridor. It borders Dongguan City and Guangming District to the north, Longgang District to the east, Futian, Luohu and Nanshan Districts to the south, and Bao’an District to the west. The district covers an area of 175.6 square kilometers.


  Landscape

  The district’s landscape is dominated by rolling hills and elevated terraces, framed by mountains on three sides and interlaced with rivers and reservoirs. Mountainous areas lie mainly to the south, west and north, while the central and eastern parts feature gentler hilly plains. Yangtai Mountain, one of Shenzhen’s major ecological landmarks, is located in the southwest, alongside other notable hills such as Danaoke Mountain, Fei’eling, and Gonghe Houshan.


  Climate

  Longhua enjoys a south subtropical maritime monsoon climate, offering warm temperatures year-round. Summer temperatures generally range from 22°C to 35°C, while winter temperatures range from 10°C to 22°C. The district’s annual average temperature is 22°C, with plentiful sunshine (2,134 hours annually) and average yearly rainfall of about 1,800 millimeters.


  Ecology and natural resources

  With Yangtai Mountain to the south and Nikeng Mountain to the north, Longhua places strong emphasis on ecological conservation. The district is home to six reservoirs, including Qiankeng Reservoir, and boasts a green coverage rate of 54.5%. More than half of the district’s land area (52%) is designated for ecological protection or water source conservation. Key waterways—including the Guanlan, Longhua and Yousong rivers—flow northward into the Dongjiang River, an important regional water system.
