Longhua District lies at the geographic center of Shenzhen, forming the central axis of the city's urban development. It borders Dongguan City and Guangming District to the north, Longgang District to the east, Futian, Luohu, and Nanshan districts to the south, and Bao’an District to the west.
Topography
The district's landscape is primarily composed of hills and terraces, surrounded by mountains and rivers.
Climate
Situated south of the Tropic of Cancer, Longhua District has a southern subtropical maritime monsoon climate. Summer temperatures range from 22-35°C, and winter temperatures vary from 10-22°C, with an annual average of 22°C. The district sees an average of 14.1°C in January and 28.2°C in July. Longhua enjoys 2,134 hours of sunshine and receives about 1,800 mm of rainfall annually.
Transportation
Shenzhen North Railway Station, located in Longhua District, is South China's largest transportation hub with port functions and a key node in China's high-speed railway network. The district is traversed by two high-speed railways, two metro lines, one tram line, and an expressway network. From Longhua, Hong Kong and Guangzhou are less than half an hour away by high-speed rail or metro, while Wuhan and Xiamen can be reached in about four hours. Looking ahead, Longhua District plans to develop a modern urban transportation system comprising four high-speed railways, 10 metro lines, the Shenzhen-Huizhou intercity railway, a modern tram network, and an extensive road network.
