‘Ne Zha’-themed graffiti in longhua goes viral

A graffiti wall featuring iconic characters from the Chinese animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 (Ne Zha: Demon Child Conquers the Sea), located near Shangfen Station on Shenzhen Metro Line 6 in Longhua District, has become a popular photo hotspot. The artwork has sparked widespread attention, captivating not only the Ne Zha fandom but also the general public.

The graffiti showcases illustrations of beloved characters such as Ne Zha, Ao Bing, Taiyi Zhenren, Shen Gongbao, Ao Guang, and Ao Run, along with their iconic quotes. Large crowds of admirers, some dressed as their favorite characters, have flocked to the site, jamming the passage along the wall to snap photos, record videos and create social media content.

The mural was created by Peng Dan, a local freelance artist in her 20s, alongside her friends. A devoted fan of the Ne Zha films, Peng shared that she was deeply moved and inspired after watching Ne Zha 2 during the Spring Festival holiday. Determined to pay tribute to the box-office sensation, she began painting the large-scale graffiti near her home on Feb. 2.

As of 7:45 a.m. this morning, the film’s total box office revenue, including overseas earnings, is on the verge of surpassing 12 billion yuan. It is set to break the record as the highest-grossing animated film worldwide. Additionally, Ne Zha 2 now holds the title of the highest-grossing film of all time in China, becoming the first Chinese movie projected to exceed the 10-billion-yuan milestone in total earnings.
