China is still facing bottlenecks in the development and innovationof medical devices, especially in basic materials, core devices and parts, advanced processes, and intelligent systems. High-tech high performance medical devices are interdisciplinary and are high value-added products, and thus enjoy great prospects and play a key role in clinical treatment and healthcare.

As one of the 16 national manufacturing innovation centers, and the first in Shenzhen, NMED is the only one focusing on high performance medical devices. Based on the Shenzhen National Research Institute of Advanced Medical Devices, the innovation center is jointly invested in by Mindary, United Imaging, LifeTech Scientific, the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Harbin Institute of Technology, and other leading institutions. To address the demand for high-performance medical devices in the fields of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, NMED focuses on high-end medical imaging, IVD, vital sign monitoring, advanced therapy, implantable interventional devices, rehabilitation, and health information, etc. It aims to link the R&D and industrialization of basic research and technologies, key materials, key devices, systems, and products so as to promote the development of the medical devices innovation system and enhance China’s capacity in advanced medical equipment manufacturing.
