The preliminaries of the 2022 Dalang Cup Women’s Wear Design Competition has wrapped up in Beijing on Aug 3. A total of 30 contestants have qualified for the quarterfinals of the contest, which will be a 7-day training camp held at Dalang Fashion Town from Aug 13 to 19, vying for the 21 places to the final of the competition.

The 30 qualified contestants include veteran designers who have long-term collaboration with domestic or overseas fashion brands, renowned indie designers and design major students from leading universities at home and abroad.

At the training camp, they will take field trips to Eachway, Ellassay and Marisfrolg to experience the workflow of fashion design and manufacturing and prepare for the final under the one-on-one instructions of previous winners of China Fashion Designer Top Awards.

“Dalang Cup will not only promote the development of domestic fashion industry but also helps introduce Chinese culture to the world,” said Zhou Yiqi, a full-time vice president of China National Garment Association, calling for deeper integration of Chinese cultural elements into original design.

Organizing committee of this year’s contest has received thousands of entries submitted by designers from across the world.

The contest is hosted by the China Garment Association, Longhua District Government and “Chinese Apparel” Magazine.
