In order to gain a deeper understanding of cultures from around the world, explore educational methods within different cultural contexts, enhance the residents' oral English skills, and broaden their international perspectives, on the afternoon of Oct. 14th, Longhua District successfully held an English Corner salon activity with the theme of “Educational and Cultural Exchange” at the Dejian bookstore in the Guanlan Ancient Market, Longhua.

Process of the Event

For this event, we had the privilege of inviting Claude, a seasoned teacher from Canada. Claude shared fascinating insights with the participants about global educational topics, such as the differences between Chinese and Western education methods, the challenges facing global education, and the characteristics of various educational systems. Claude also shared amusing anecdotes from his teaching experience at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, eliciting continuous laughter from the audience.

Under Claude’s guidance, the participants were divided into several small groups and engaged in in-depth discussions on various education-related topics. These topics included the application of modern technologies in education and the distinct features of the Chinese education system. Attendees freely expressed their thoughts and actively exchanged their perspectives and insights.

Additionally, it has enriched my knowledge and deepened my understanding of the similarities and differences between eastern and western educational cultures. Longhua District will continue to organize various forms of English Corner activities, covering a wide range of topics including humanities, economics, technology, and fashion, so as to better meet the district’s needs in the field of international exchanges.
