From Nov. 7 to 14, HUA HUB — also known as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Innovation Lab (Shenzhen Longhua) — and representatives from its entrepreneur network participated in the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12) and the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29), held in Cairo, Egypt, and Baku, Azerbaijan, respectively. The aim was to establish in-depth connections with industrial sectors and leading enterprises in both locations for future complementary and pragmatic cooperation.

This was the first time that Longhua-based enterprises attended WUF12, which took place from Nov. 4 to 8. Representative companies in fields such as new energy technology, water environment management, consumer electronics, and portable energy storage participated in the Urban Expo at WUF12, which attracted 136 international and local organizations and institutions from 52 countries.

During the expo, Longhua Drainage showcased its integrated water affairs operation and management model and shared its experiences related to water safety, water resources, water environment, water ecology, water culture, and the water economy.

Chen Hua, general manager of Longhua Drainage, stated, “The expo not only provides us with a chance to showcase our corporate strengths but also serves as an important opportunity to seek common development with counterparts around the world. We look forward to developing international cooperation in a broader range of fields with potential partners in the future.”

On Tuesday, HUA HUB partnered with the Shenzhen Foundation for International Exchange and Cooperation and Biosphere 3 to hold the “Shenzhen Day: Innovation-Driven Sustainable Development of Megacities” event at COP29. This gathering facilitated discussions about Shenzhen’s development experiences and innovative initiatives with representatives from international organizations, governments, enterprises, and professional institutions.

Some Longhua companies, including Ugreen and Shenzhen Hello Tech, participated in a roundtable session to discuss how various entities can contribute to the sustainable development of megacities and to share Shenzhen’s practices.

HUA HUB, the first Sustainable Development Innovation Lab under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in China’s 'National Sustainable Development Agenda Innovation Demonstration Zone,' is set to focus on the digital economy and the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The hub will bring together a diverse network of partners from the UN system, government, business, and academia, fostering international collaboration among SMEs and young innovators. By driving and implementing cutting-edge sustainability solutions, HUA HUB aims to establish Longhua as a global leader in sustainable development.
