Double Ninth Festival: Warmth and Blessings

SOURCE:LICCPUBDATE:2025-10-30

On the ninth day of

the ninth lunar month,

China celebrates the traditional festival

known as the Double Ninth Festival.

This year, we're off to visit our elderly friends in

the Shenzhen North Station community!

Poetry Appreciation

"Alone, a lonely stranger in a foreign land.

I doubly pine for my kinsfolk on holiday."

Residents recited famous Double Ninth Festival poems by Wang Wei, Meng Haoran, Li Qingzhao, and others with heartfelt emotion.

Chinese verses flowed with grace, English recitations with ease,

Children's voices rang clear and bright,

elders' tones deep and resonant,

All participated enthusiastically,

conveying longing and

reunion through both languages.

Grandpa Yuan's Band

You think the “Golden Years” band

only plays slow tunes?

Too young!

They open with the tender

“I Love the Golden Years,”

then instantly crank up the energy

with “Horse Racing”!

The moment the erhu starts playing,

it's like seeing horses galloping

through the neighborhood.

Foreign friends also marveled at the boundless energy of their “old friends”!

Our own Metal Foil Art

The most exciting part is here!

Our foreign friends diligently apply glue,

murmuring to themselves:

“This must be Eastern alchemy...”

The kids carefully sweep the foil,

accidentally turning their hands

into “little golden hands”.

Mom laughs hysterically

“Now you're truly bathed in golden light!”

Everyone gathered around to create their own Metal Foil Art.

From tracing designs and applying glue

to attaching foil and sweeping away excess gold, each step was done with earnest joy.

At this moment,

we transcend nationality and age.

United by culture, warmed by togetherness.

This Double Ninth Festival gathering

is not merely a celebration of tradition,

but a heartfelt embrace of community spirit.

Chinese residents and English intertwine,

ancient verse resonates with folk melodies,

elders and children revel together,

Chinese and foreign friends join hands—

this is the very image of our “community family” we envision.
