This session of English corner, we gathered together as usual, chatting about different topics, interacting, and listening to stories in English. After joining in LICC English Corner, have you noticed any small changes in yourself?
This session focused on Sustainable Development.
Starting with the Sustainable Development Goals, corporate social responsibility, and ESG concepts, the teacher first introduced key vocabulary and relevant background. Through questions and interactive discussion, the topic was brought back to familiar aspects of everyday life and urban development.

Sustainable development may sound like a big concept, but it becomes much more relatable in conversation. Choosing greener ways to travel, being more mindful about resource use, or thinking about how businesses can operate more responsibly—all of these became starting points for discussion. Participants shared their own perspectives and experiences, expressing ideas in English while also hearing different viewpoints from others.
Yilia Chen, a participant, said that her favorite topic was quality education. She noted the development of AI is very fast, the most important for students is how to ask a high quality question about their lives their family or their school or the future about themselves.
Felicity, said that her favorite topic was gender equality. She shared that it gave her plenty of ideas to talk about and made their communication more meaningful and inspiring.
Yuriy, the instructor, said that the best and the biggest benefit is their opportunity to communicate with each other.
