The Third Session

"Longhua International Promotion Officer"

Foreign Language Training Camp

When international friends come to Longhua, where would you recommend they to go? And how can we help them truly fall in love with the place? In this training session, let's try to answer these questions – and truly speak them out.

On May 22nd, the third session of the "Longhua International Promotion Officer" Foreign Language Training Camp and "Longgong School" Foreign Affairs Service Activities was successfully held at the Shenzhen Longhua International Cooperation Center. The theme of this session was "Living Well in Longhua: Cultural Tourism & International Integration". Seventy employees from various departments across the district, together with multilingual volunteers, took part in this practical training.

Buzzwords

In class, expressions such as "off the beaten path" became popular when participants introduced destinations like Shangwei Art Village and New Who Art Village, instantly conveying that these were places beyond the typical tourist routes. When talking about Guanlan Old Market or Guanlan Print Village, many participants naturally described them as "hidden gems."

Participants also explored how concepts such as the Sustainable Development Goals could be connected to Longhua through discussions on low-carbon initiatives, green innovation, and community building, making these practical expressions memorable and relatable.

Scenario 1:

Recommending Longhua's Cultural Tourism Sites

How do you introduce Longhua's attractions in just three minutes? At the session, participants transformed into "Longhua cultural tourism ambassadors," enthusiastically recommending destinations such as Guanlan Print Village with its more than 300 years of history, Guanlan Old Market — often nicknamed "Little Hong Kong", and Dalang Fashion Town, one of China's largest womenswear industry clusters.

Some participants also highlighted Yangtai Mountain, known as the highest peak in western Shenzhen. Easily accessible via Metro Line 6, it offers panoramic views of Longhua while providing a refreshing escape into nature — the shortest distance between urban life and the outdoors.

Scenario 2:

International Community Life

This time, participants were not speaking to tourists simply passing through Longhua, but to international residents who have chosen to build their lives here.

Throughout the session, keywords such as "integrate," "community," and "belonging" were repeatedly mentioned. Some participants introduced Longhua's regular international exchange activities, while others shared information about volunteer and public welfare programs. Gradually, the focus shifted from a traditional "reception mindset" to a more inclusive "community partnership mindset."

More than simply providing services, participants hoped to convey a deeper message: Longhua is not only saying, "Welcome to visit," but also, "Welcome to become part of our community."

From getting to know Longhua,to investing in Longhua, and then to living well in Longhua, this program is about more than learning English. It is about telling Longhua's stories. And the stories of this city are now being shared with greater sincerity by more and more people.
