Intellisia Research Institute (Hai Guo Tu Zhi) is a new type of independent social think tank and ranked fifth in the list of 2018 Chinese social think tanks, founded in 2015 by Dr. Chen Dingding in political science from the University of Chicago and professor of Jinan University in Shenzhen, and headquartered in Guangzhou.

The Chinese name of Intellisia is ‘Hai Guo Tu Zhi’, which originates from the book ‘Hai Guo Tu Zhi’ written by Wei Yuan, an Enlightenment thinker in the Qing Dynasty and the first person who ‘opened his eyes to the world’ in modern China. The Institute employs renowned scholars and experts from home and abroad to form the Academic Committee and the Board of Directors, and the Director is responsible for coordinating the resources of outstanding young scholars and experts from home and abroad. The Institute is committed to proposing solutions of practical significance to the current problems and challenges faced by China and the world from the perspective of innovative thinking through a high-quality and efficient research team, an independent and objective perspective, and a strong ability to integrate resources. Intellisia aims to provide the Chinese public and policy makers with scientific, impartial and objective policy analyses, research reports and academic guidance, and to promote academic research and policy observation in the areas of international politics and economy, international security, national strategy, and national cognition, so as to provide first-class intellectual support and decision-making consulting services to governments, enterprises and individual clients.
