City to open 18 new public senior high schools
Shenzhen will open 18 new regular public senior high schools this year to raise the enrollment rate for regular senior high schools to over 70%, according to information released by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau on Friday.
The 18 new regular public senior secondary schools are located across the city, including nine in three senior high school parks, Shenzhen Longgang Experimental High School, Shenzhen Second Senior High School Shenshan Experimental School, and Shenzhen Longhua Foreign Languages Senior High School.
The city’s senior high schools will enroll 109,000 students this year. Along with vocational school admissions, the overall enrollment plan can ensure enough senior high school admissions for qualified students, the bureau said.
Regular senior high schools plan to enroll 78,000 students this year (including 59,000 regular public senior high school admissions), an increase of 12,800 students compared to last year. The enrollment rate in regular public senior high school education will reach 53% this year.
The bureau said it will add 50,000 senior high school admissions and build, renovate and expand 25 regular public senior high schools between 2023 and 2025 in a bid to further strengthen basic education in the city.
