A total of 108 activities have been planned at the municipal and district levels for citizens to explore the outdoors and increase physical activity, Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.
The activities, which aim to encourage residents to go out in springtime to enjoy the natural landscape, were launched at Lianhua Hill Park on Tuesday.
The activities range from a short-distance running event, an outdoor tent festival, exploring Shenzhen’s ancient villages, collection of poems and prose, to calligraphy and nature-sketching activities.
Other activities such as cycling, extreme sports challenges and outdoor sports exhibitions are also expected to motivate residents to get close to nature and enjoy sports in the next 30 days.
“The various activities aim to attract citizens to participate in physical exercise. I think the elderly should get involved in sports more often, find sports that are suitable for them and persist, so they become healthier,” Luo Xiaoping, a senior citizen from Minzhi Subdistrict, Longhua District, was quoted as saying.
