Shenzhen mulls building a global manufacturing base for intelligent communication modules in Jiulongshan Digital City, one of the seven key areas of Longhua District, according to a recent land transfer notice released by Longhua District Key Area Construction Center.

Intelligent communication modules refers to a core component in the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem and a pivotal infrastructure of digital economy. These modules play a crucial role in connecting smart devices to IoT networks, enabling data transmission between the devices and the broader network.

The base, covering an area of 23,995 square meters, will house factories, R&D centers, and ancillary facilities dedicated to intelligent communication modules and smart devices. Operated by Fibocom, a Shenzhen-based global leader in wireless communication modules and IoT solutions, the facility offers a diverse range of IoT modules, including cellular (5G/4G/3G/2G/LPWA), automotive-grade, AI, Android, and GNSS modules. These modules find applications across a wide array of scenarios, including cloud office setups, broadband networks, smart transportation systems, retail automation, robotics, security systems, energy management, industrial automation, smart homes, telemedicine, precision agriculture, and urban development.

Jiulongshan Digital Town serves as the nucleus of the Longlan Smart Manufacturing Corridor and Meiguan Innovation Corridor in northern Longhua. Recognized as a national high-tech zone and a provincial core hub for the artificial intelligence industry, as well as a municipal hub for emerging and 5G industries, the area hosts over 200 tech enterprises of considerable scale and several pivotal industrial projects, including the Jiulongshan Industrial Park, Mindray’s Global Supply Chain Headquarters, and Hongchuang Hi-Tech Center. It will serve as an industrial cluster dominated by digital and emerging industries, with a focus on the construction of a digital economic industrial system integrating advanced manufacturing and information, AI, 5G, and industrial internet technologies.

The establishment of the base will provide communication solutions for relevant industries, propel the integrated development of the IoT industry in Longhua District, and foster a new ecology for innovations in the digital economy.
