The MixC Qianhai shopping mall has unveiled an outdoor ice-themed attraction called “Realm of the Snow and Ice,” inviting residents to experience artificial snow for a romantic winter ambiance.

The ice world, spanning nearly 1,300 square meters, runs until Feb. 16 next year and is accessible to the public free of charge.

The mall’s B2 level is adorned with cedar trees and an impressive eight-meter-high ice waterfall, instantly transporting visitors into a winter wonderland.

Alongside the ice waterfall, visitors will find a blue lake, reindeers, and white rabbits, adding to the enchanting atmosphere.

Furthermore, a super-long snow slide connects the mall’s B1 and B2 snow areas with a campfire tent situated at the heart of the B2 snow area.

At 6 p.m., the cedar trees are illuminated to create a warm and memorable winter experience. Until Jan. 1, snow shows occur hourly from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Fridays, weekends, and holidays, with each show lasting 10 minutes.

Visitors to the MixC Qianhai shopping mall can also explore ice-themed shops such as snow and outdoor apparel brand VECVEC and the Italian gelato brand Cream Story. Cream Story delights customers with over 60 flavors of gelato, including a special limited edition for the ice season.

Beyond MixC Qianhai, other leisure destinations across the city like the MixC Luohu shopping mall in Luohu District, Nantou Ancient Town in Nanshan District, and A Park in Futian District have also embraced the festive spirit with their own ice-themed installations.

In March 2023, Karoo Ice Snow in Longhua District welcomed the public. This snow world spans an area of 12,000 square meters, with a ski site covering 5,400 square meters and reaching a height of nearly 23 meters at its peak, offering visitors an expansive view and a super-large space designed for an immersive experience. Its perennial temperature is maintained between minus 3 and minus 5 degrees Celsius.

The most eye-catching facility inside is a ski track, 100 meters in length and 20 meters in width, with the height of its starting platform reaching 10 meters.

The venue also offers instructional courses with prices ranging from 799 yuan (US$109.9) per hour to 1,899 yuan. A ticket for two hours costs 208 yuan.

Additionally, there is a ski resort within the Window of the World, as well as chain brands offering simulated skiing (dry-land skiing) experiences in large shopping malls in the city.

Scheduled to be completed in November 2025, the Shenzhen Qianhai Huafa Ice and Snow World, adjacent to the Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center, is expected to become the world’s largest indoor ski resort that will offer an 83-meter ski drop and a 441-meter single ski track in a construction area of roughly 100,000 square meters, rivaling the likes of the Wanda Snow Amusement Park in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province.
