Longhua District has strengthened its position as a regional hub for advanced manufacturing, with 21 local companies named in the second batch of individual champion enterprises announced by the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau recently.

This brings Longhua’s total to 23 such enterprises, ranking fourth citywide in cumulative count and third in new additions.

These companies operate across high-tech sectors including advanced equipment manufacturing, new materials, bio-medicines, and high-end medical consumables, highlighting the district’s strength in niche global markets.

The "individual manufacturing champion" title is awarded to Chinese companies officially recognized for leading globally in highly specialized manufacturing fields, distinguished by sustained focus (typically three to five years or more), a top-three global market share, cutting-edge proprietary technologies, and high profitability.

Notably, several Longhua-based companies — such as Shenzhen China Micro Semicon Co., Ltd. (CMS) and Creality 3D — have earned dual recognition as both provincial and municipal champions.

CMS, a semiconductor industry leader, has pioneered defect inspection systems for unpatterened wafers, filling a critical gap in China’s integrated circuit sector while earning a place on the provincial list of a individual champion enterprises in 2023. Creality 3D, a global front-runner in consumer-grade 3D printers, won the accolade in 2024 by retaining top market share with cutting-edge innovations. Other standouts include Shenzhen Axxon Automation Co., Ltd., a global fluid and paste automation specialist, and Greensheng Technology, a lithium battery equipment manufacturer driving domestic substitution in new energy industries.

Longhua’s success stems from a robust ecosystem nurturing SMEs toward specialization. The district has rolled of preferential policies including incubation mechanisms, financial incentives and lifecycle services targeting "little giant" firms (national specialized SMEs) and high-tech enterprises.

Current data highlight 1,842 municipal-level specialized SMEs (third in Shenzhen), 2,940 innovative SMEs (second in Shenzhen) and 138 "little giants" (third citywide) in Longhua. Strategic emerging industries now contribute over 48% to the district’s GDP.

Looking ahead, Longhua aims to double its innovation capacity by upgrading its digital economy policy framework. The strategy centers on an action plan to accelerate new productive forces in advanced manufacturing, backed by 22 supporting measures covering general incentives and cluster development.

Targets include expanding national high-tech enterprises to 6,000 by the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, doubling the number of national "little giants" and innovation platforms, and breaking into China’s top 10 innovation districts.

By refining its cultivation chain—guiding firms from startups to innovators, specialists, and ultimately global leaders—Longhua is shaping a dynamic, self-sustaining manufacturing ecosystem. This systematic approach, combining targeted policies and industrial clustering, positions the district to fuel sustained growth in advanced manufacturing, reinforcing Shenzhen’s role as a global innovation powerhouse.
