The new venue of the Shenzhen Cultural Hall, one of the city’s major cultural facilities, has recently topped out and is scheduled for completion by next June.

Covering a total floor area of over 80,000 square meters, the new facility will function as a comprehensive cultural and arts complex that integrates performance, training, exhibition, and reading spaces. With seven floors above ground and two underground, it will host events centered on cultural heritage, public co-creation, and sustainable development.

Drawing inspiration from Guangdong’s marine culture, the facility’s architectural design evokes the image of a vessel riding the waves. It will feature theaters, exhibition halls, training rooms, libraries, and multifunctional outdoor plazas that can be transformed into playgrounds, lecture areas, performance stages, and more — meeting the diverse needs of different groups.

According to the constructor, the new cultural hall has embraced the ethos of green, smart, and low-carbon architecture throughout its construction process. Advanced technologies, materials, and techniques — including smart management systems, energy recycling, photovoltaic and energy storage integration, ultra-fast charging, and vehicle-to-grid interaction — have been applied to enhance sustainability and efficiency.
