Longhua District and Shenzhen University officially launched the Shenzhen University Affiliated Longhua Hospital on Jan. 6, marking a major step forward in expanding access to high-quality medical services for local residents.
At a ceremony held at Longhua District Central Hospital, two key agreements were signed — one between the Longhua District Health Bureau and Shenzhen University to strengthen collaboration, and another on the joint construction and operation of the new affiliated hospital. The hospital’s nameplate was also unveiled at the event.
The partnership brings Shenzhen University’s academic and research strengths into Longhua’s public healthcare system. Residents will now have access to advanced medical services, as well as medical education and research resources — all within the district.
In recent years, Longhua has rapidly expanded its healthcare infrastructure. The number of public hospitals has grown from three to seven during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, with nearly 7,000 new hospital beds added and doctor-to-nurse ratios significantly improved.
Shenzhen University, a rising “Double First-Class” institution, has seen strong growth in clinical medicine. Its program now ranks among the top 500 globally, highlighting its capacity to support advanced clinical training and research.
“This partnership is a milestone for our hospital and a key step in advancing Longhua’s healthcare system,” said Wang Guangming, Party secretary of the Longhua District Central Hospital.
The affiliated hospital will also host a medical innovation and research center, aiming to accelerate the transformation of academic research into clinical practice. Officials see the collaboration as a model for district-university integration, helping to align Longhua with the broader healthcare development strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
As the partnership develops, residents can expect more accessible, reliable, and high-quality medical services — right in their neighborhood.
