As the new year kicks off, Longhua District has rolled out a new wave of smart outdoor fitness gyms, bringing high-tech, zero-cost exercise opportunities to residents across the district.

Following Shenzhen's citywide initiative to expand digital public fitness infrastructure, 19 smart outdoor gyms have now been installed in parks, community squares, and industrial areas throughout Longhua — and every one of them is completely free to use.

Whether you're a seasoned gym-goer or just getting started, these facilities make it easy to work out on your own schedule, right in your local neighborhood.

What makes these gyms smart?

A smart fitness zone in Longhua blends technology with nature and accessibility.

Each outdoor gym includes 15 to 25 pieces of equipment, thoughtfully divided into three zones:

· Body assessment zone

Scan a QR code to test your height, weight, heart rate recovery, and more — with 13 physical indicators tracked through your phone. Personalized exercise reports and suggested fitness plans are updated every three to five weeks.

· Muscle training zone

Each machine features easy-to-follow instructions and video tutorials, making it beginner-friendly and accessible for all fitness levels.

· Competition zone

Challenge yourself with interactive human-machine workouts or invite friends to a friendly fitness showdown. Exercise has never been this engaging.

These gyms are solar-powered or self-powered, designed for sustainability as well as convenience.

For many residents, gym memberships can be expensive, and it's not always easy to find the time or motivation to work out. These open-access gyms remove those barriers — no sign-up, no payment, no pressure. Just walk up, scan, and start moving.
