A new electric vehicle charging station capable of raising a compatible vehicle’s charge level from 10% to 70% in five minutes was completed in Longhua District on Aug. 28.
The Longyou Flash-Charging Flagship Demonstration Station, jointly developed by Longhua Investment Holding Group and Shenzhen-based automaker BYD, is located near Meilin Checkpoint. It is South China’s first megawatt-class flagship EV charging station and is part of Shenzhen’s “Supercharging City 2.0” initiative.
The station has 10 flash-charging piles equipped with 20 charging connectors and 15 supercharging piles with 30 charging connectors. Its fully liquid-cooled flash-charging system can deliver a peak output of 1,500 kilowatts through a single charging connector.
When paired with compatible BYD vehicles equipped with the company’s second-generation Blade Battery, the system can increase the battery level from 10% to 70% in five minutes and to 97% in nine minutes, according to BYD.
The facility combines charging infrastructure with an energy-storage system. Intelligent power management allows it to store electricity when demand is lower and discharge it during peak periods, reducing the strain that high-power charging could place on the local grid.
The project also marked the completion of BYD’s 10,000th flash-charging station in China. The automaker said its network now covers 332 cities nationwide.

The Longhua station is intended to demonstrate how high-power EV charging can be integrated with energy storage and local power-grid management. It will also showcase new energy technologies and operating models developed in the district.
Longhua was approved earlier this year for inclusion in the National Energy Administration’s first group of pilot projects aimed at strengthening China’s capacity to build a new-type power system. The district is developing a virtual power plant platform to aggregate and coordinate distributed energy resources and flexible electricity loads.
Longhua Investment Holding Group has so far developed 19 new energy projects in the district, covering solar power, energy storage, EV charging and energy-efficient air-conditioning systems. The portfolio includes 5.56 megawatts-peak of installed solar capacity, 7.68 megawatt-hours of energy-storage capacity and nine charging stations.
