Longhua roundtable draws US firms eyeing AI, robotics expansion

Longhua Sept. 22 hosted a roundtable with representatives of U.S.-funded enterprises at the Shenzhen Longhua International Cooperation Center (LICC), in a move aimed to sharpen the district's edge in the global AI and robotics sector and connect overseas AI firms with local resources.

The program featured remarks from representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China), a presentation by the LICC and a briefing on Longhua's business environment by the district's commerce bureau. It closed with open exchanges on companies' questions, policy consultations and business matchmaking.

Harley Seyedin, president of the AmCham South China, said Longhua is now one of Shenzhen's digital-economy hubs. It has more than 600 AI-related enterprises and an AI cluster worth over 13.5 billion yuan (US$2.01 billion) in 2025. He cited its computing power, algorithms, smart terminals, robotics and industry-academia-research collaboration as draws for U.S. firms seeking partners, talent and real-world applications.

Rabbi Al Azad, marketing director of robotics firm ROBOTIN, said overseas demand for robotics products is rising fast. He cited growing adoption of home robots in Europe, the Middle East and the United States, where wall-to-wall carpets create specific cleaning needs.

Al Azad said Longhua offers strong advantages for robotics manufacturing and international expansion. He cited its dense supply chain ecosystem and access to key components such as sensors, batteries and motors from nearby suppliers including Foxconn.

He also pointed to the district's logistics and infrastructure support, including proximity to Shenzhen North Railway Station, major airports and ports, and a wide network of logistics and certification service providers that supports efficient global distribution and compliance.

The representatives also visited the Harmony Ecosystem Innovation Center and Inovance Technology, learning about OpenHarmony, AI applications and regional industrial development, and toured AI incubation spaces.

The event was co-hosted by the Longhua District Commerce Bureau, AmCham South China, the Workstation of Rights and Interests Protection for Shenzhen Enterprises with Foreign Investment and the LICC.
