Shenzhen-based technology company GMKtec has launched a compact AI workstation capable of running large artificial intelligence models without relying on cloud servers, targeting businesses and professionals seeking greater control over their computing resources and data.
The Longhua-based company introduced the EVO-X5 Pro at an Oct. 9 event in Shenzhen, held in collaboration with AMD and Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com. The product went on sale in China the same evening.
Powered by AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor, the workstation features up to 192GB of unified memory and supports local inference using large language models with as many as 320 billion parameters, according to GMKtec. Actual performance and compatibility depend on the model and software configuration.
Bringing AI computing to the desktop
Unlike cloud-based AI services, which process requests on remote servers, the EVO-X5 Pro is designed to handle demanding AI workloads locally.
The system combines CPU, GPU and neural processing capabilities, with up to 160GB of its unified memory available for graphics-intensive workloads. It supports up to 24TB of storage, allowing users to keep large AI models and business data on the device.

The workstation also features hardware-based security and remote management capabilities, making it suitable for organizations that need to process sensitive information locally.
GMKtec has developed applications for business workflows, including document processing, AI assistants and locally deployed AI models. Multiple workstations can also be connected to provide additional computing resources.
The EVO-X5 Pro made its global debut at IFA 2026, a major consumer electronics trade show held in Berlin in September, where it received innovation awards from German technology publications PCWELT and SmartZone.
Part of Longhua's growing mini PC industry
The launch reflects Longhua's growing presence in the mini PC industry, which is expanding beyond conventional compact computers into AI-powered workstations.
Longhua is home to manufacturers including GMKtec, Chuangyingxin and Beelink, with an industrial network spanning component production, product development, manufacturing and international sales.
According to district government figures, Longhua accounts for nearly 80% of Shenzhen's mini PC industry output. Its mini computer equipment manufacturing cluster was among the industrial clusters selected for provincial recognition in 2026.
The EVO-X5 Pro illustrates how local manufacturers are moving into more specialized computing products as demand grows for AI applications that can operate directly on users' devices.
