A piano museum, which will be the largest of its kind in China, will be built near the Baishilong Music Park in Longhua District.
Longhua District Government signed an agreement with Shenzhen Artstar Culture Communications Co. Ltd., during the 17th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF), which was held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District from Sept. 23 to 27, to jointly build the museum. The museum will display more than 450 antique pianos and over 3,000 related objects donated by piano collector Xu Jingyan, who is also the general manager of the company.

Xu hopes the museum will serve as a venue to showcase and inherit piano culture. He has so far collected a total of 500 pianos since 1982 and the oldest ones among his collections can be dated back to the 1900s. “The museum will be the largest one of its kind in China and will help promote Shenzhen to the world as a city of music,” he said.

The museum will also serve as a successful example of the cooperation between the government and private enterprises and will become another representative culture landmark of Longhua District.
In another development, the final of the 2nd ICIF Greater Bay Area Piano Open Competition 2021 was held in the Mahua FunAge Theater in the Hongshan 6979 commercial complex in Minzhi Subdistrict on the evening of Sept. 26.
As a sideline event of the 17th ICIF, the contest gathered pianists from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and wrapped up with 47 award winners.
