In a bid to build a municipal-level core business cirle and international consumption center covering an area of over 2 million square meters, Longhua District is soliciting entries on the urban design of its Renmin Road International Business Circle recently.

Registrations to the contest kicked off on Oct. 21 and had so far received entries submitted by 104 enterprises and institutions from 11 countries.

The entrants including household names in design industry such as Zaha Hadid Architects and Mu Jia Architecture Urban Design Co., Ltd., consortiums making up by professional design teams from urban planning, architecture, industrial, and transportation fields, and participants of other local contests on the urban design of Shenzhen North Railway Station, Shenzhen Bay Headquarters and Qianhai CBD.

The organizer will review the qualification of the entrants on Oct. 29 and after that, qualified contestants are required to submit plans of the urban landscape and architect design of the Remin Road Business Circle and other three key construction projects in the area to vie for a top cash prize of 3 million yuan. The winning team will also win a 4.57-million-yuan fund to further promote and implement their plan.

“We hope to take advantage of the outstanding plans and ideas from designers across the world to build the aera into a world’s top business circle and a outstanding exemplification of future city construction,” said a staffer from Longhua District City Renewal and Land Renovation Bureau.

The business circle will cover three subdistricts including Longhua, Minzhi and Dalang.
