Free cultural events offered to citizens

As most Shenzheners have to stay at home due to the latest COVID control measures, local cultural groups put forward a series of free activities to help them fight against the virus.


Shenzhen News Group launched 14 cultural activities in public welfare, reading, video, audio and other media.


The city’s Civilization Office, Women’s Federation, Shenzhen Project Care Office, Shenzhen Project Care Foundation and Shenzhen Evening News joined hands to provide care and help the families of frontline anti-epidemic workers.


Shenzhen Special Zone Daily and its foundation plan to invite some frontline personnel to record videos to inspire citizens.


While many parents frown when their kids have to stay at home, the Education Media Group invited 100 kindergarten teachers to record 100 classic audio stories for Shenzhen students for free.


The group joined hands with Fan Deng Dushu, a popular audio book review app in China, to provide free service for 100,000 citizens for one month. It also offers local students 100 home education video courses and 100 traditional culture video courses, all for free.

Shenzhen Economic Daily invited the Municipal Science and Technology Association and the Science and Technology Volunteer Team to promote knowledge on the fight against virus on its app.

Shenzhen Municipal Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau recently launched a series of videos online to help citizens plan their at-home workout plans.


Shenzhen Media Group’s Topway Cable TV is providing free services to the city’s HD interactive TV users, covering film and television, child education and entertainment.


Shenzhen Publishing Group launched an online free reading activity March 15 which lasts for one month and provides 100,000-plus e-books, 30,000-plus audiobooks and a large number of periodicals for free.
